Wild at Home

This renovation envisions a forever home for a family of five - expressive, grounded in nature, and shaped by the rhythms of everyday life. The design balances the mother’s appreciation for layered maximalism with the father’s affinity for biophilic principles, creating a home that feels both vibrant and restorative. At its core, the project emphasizes connection - to family life, to nature, and to spaces that evolve over time.

Architecturally, the home is reimagined to improve flow, daylight, and long-term functionality. Open yet defined spaces support active family living while allowing moments of retreat. Framed views and strong indoor–outdoor connections draw the backyard into daily life, reinforcing the home’s biophilic intent through natural materials and visual continuity.

The interior palette is curated and confident, using earthy greens, clay tones, deep blues, and warm neutrals as a grounding base. Maximalism is expressed through thoughtful layering, patterned surfaces, richly veined stone, textured finishes, and natural wood, resulting in spaces that feel personal yet cohesive.

The kitchen forms the heart of the home, designed to support shared routines and dual-cook functionality. A central island encourages gathering and casual use, while a dedicated scullery maintains order and efficiency. Durable natural materials and generous storage support long-term family use.

Throughout the home, materials are selected for both resilience and character, allowing spaces to age gracefully and adapt as the family grows. The result is a home that is expressive, enduring, and deeply connected to its environment.
